About the examination

Answers to specific referral questions

An independent psychiatric medical examination can help clarify how a psychiatric condition affects a claim, a person’s ability to work, or their ability to carry out specific job duties. The evaluation may include a psychiatric interview, relevant records, and a written report tailored to the referral.

The visit is for evaluation. If you need ongoing psychiatric care, contact your treating clinician.
